LONDON A man has been rescued from a disused English mineshaft after surviving 11 days trapped underground, DPA quoted police as saying Tuesday. A passer-by heard the man's cries for help as he was walking late on Monday over the Mendip hills in Somerset in the west of England, where there are many disused lead mines. The man, aged in his 20s, was pulled out of the shaft by a cave rescue team and taken to hospital where he is being treated for back and leg injuries and hypothermia. "It appears that he may have been down there for 11 days. We believe he may be a missing person from Radstock, near Bath, who went missing 11 days ago," a police spokesman said.
